If you’re looking for the buzziest band in the indie universe right now, it’s probably this one. Good thing they make good music:
Videoooooooooo:
Another day, another DMB premier. This past Saturday in Bristow, VA, the boys did a cover of Peter Gabriel’s “Sledgehammer” and totally nailed it. Hope they play it in San Fran when I see them!
Here’s the full audio with a still image:
Here’s a video clip of the song live:
Here’s the original video (just because it’s so awesome):

So Girl Talk aka Gregg Gillis decided to go the Radiohead route and offer up his new album with a name your price feature. Which may be smart. Granted, I doubt many people will actually pay very much for party music from a guy who has only made one previous album. A little different from Radiohead. But he doesn’t have huge debt from this album to pay off so he should be fine. I mean, it’s not like he paid for any of those samples… OOOHHHH burn. I’m just kidding, I love this album. It’s a little more ADD’ed out than his last one, but still… Anywhere you can hear Ace of Base’s “All That She Wants” mixed with “My Drink ‘N My 2 Step” I’m all for it… Go play spot the sample:

Have you guys heard the new Beck songs? They’re quite good. I know I’m only supposed to do a song of the day, but I couldn’t just pick one of these! Listen and you’ll be glad I have them all for you. Beck’s new album Modern
Guilt is out July 8th.
I like these guys. They’re very nice. And they make some great music as well. They just released a new video for their track “Frankenstein” and here it is:
This was one of the first bands I saw at this year’s Coachella. This track is awesome. So I thought I should share it with you! We had Friday dance party last week, how about Tuesday dance party this week? Everyone needs some mid week ___________ . Fill in your favorite dance move there. Please tell me it is not cabbage patch.
Has anyone seen FN MTV yet? It debuted last week, but I missed that one. I caught the 2nd episode which premiered this video and actually really enjoyed the show! If you can ignore the fact that Pete Wentz is the host, there are a lot of good things going on here. They play 4 never before seen brand new videos in their entirety (they don’t cut them off TRL style) and the artist comes in to talk a little bit about it, there are 2 live performance, and people rate the videos online instantly with a panel of judges to discuss further. This week they premiered videos from Lil Mama, Boys Like Girls, Shawty Lo, and Vampire Weekend. The live performances came from Duffy and Lil Wayne with commentary provided by Katy Perry. Nice little group they’ve got going there. Now it was a little weird to see a VW video introduced with lasers and the crowd that normally screams when they see thongs was very quiet through this one, but at least they threw an indie rock vid in the mix. Here is said video:
I thought the Shawty Lo video was a joke at first. It starts with a 20 minute screaming DJ introduction and is followed by whisper sing rapping talking about how he’s a fool. Yes, yes you are.
It’s Friday so it’s time for a dance party!!! Woo-hoo!
How about a dance party in a laundromat with some pac-man type friends? Sounds good to me…
If we wanted to be all serious, I could tell you that this group was formed by the former lead singer of Simian (which then became Simian Mobile Disco when he left), and that this song features vocals from Damon Albarn (of Gorillaz, Blur, The Good The Bad & The Queen, etc.)…. but who wants to be serious. We want to dance party!!!
