I didn’t like this song the first time I heard it. I thought Alela Diane sounded like a milk maid in the country back in the day. Like 1800s back in the day. Maybe that works for some people, but I wasn’t feeling it. Buuuuuut…. it’s grown on me. And it seems like all the blogs and hipsters are losing their shit over her. (Not as much as over Marnie Stern though. Still not getting her. Give me some time, but I can’t promise anything.) This video doesn’t help the country bumpkin thing, but whatever. I’m liking it now…

It is great to see a video from Alela Diane on Music Ramen. She is yet another really talented folk artist from Nevada City, CA, like Joanna Newsom and Mariee Sioux.
