While I only saw about 5 bands total during my short stint at Detour Fest this past weekend, one of the was a new discovery. I had heard good things about The Mae Shi, but never checked them out. When I saw them give the crowd a parachute like the one you’d play with in 4th grade gym class, I fell instantly in love. Now if only I could have made my way up front to play with said parachute, I’d be a goner. Alas, I am still with you and urging you to check out this single/video from their last album. Also, their MySpace lists them as performing at the Lykke Li show in LA on November 3rd. My head may explode that weekend with me FINALLY catching L double and the added bonus of this lovely band, Passion Pit opening for Yelle, Ray LaMontagne, and some more shows that I can’t even remember b/c it’s like a festival threw up on a span of 5 days. I’ll keep you guys posted…

They remind me of Polyphonic Spree a little.

This is a great song. Run To Your Grave was once of my most listened to songs from late 2007 to early 2008.

I love the guy on the little white candy corn instrument. He didn’t give up til the end. It’s like “how many band members can fit in a frame” and party. They’re fun!
