"Good Life" by Kanye West feat. T-Pain

Go Kanye! Does Kitson have Team Kanye/Team 50 shirts yet? Maybe that’s a little too urban for them. Not sure those shirts go with Uggs. Regardless, I’m glad that Kanye finally came out and admitted on the VMA red carpet that this rivalry is all a marketing stunt - hey, whatever helps you sell records. Just don’t try to pass it off like you wanna fight… ahem, Kanye… What are you gonna get him with? Your backpack filled with argyle sweaters? That’ll hurt…

But I haven’t always been Team Louis Vuitton Don. When Kanye was going through his whole “I steal from the little inocent indie bands” phase, I had to hate a little. Ok, a lot. But once 50 threw down, I had to convert. You understand.

This track is my favorite off of Kanye’s album… probably b/c it samples Michael Jackson’s “P.Y.T.” I saw the video premiere today and was really wowed by it. I love that it draws your attention to the lyrics. I caught a few things that I hadn’t heard on just listening alone. For example, the whole Snakes on a Plane part? Yeah, just got that. I embrace my naivety - lay off… And I love that he calls the people giving him salty looks Lawry’s. This is quite different from any of the hip hop videos out there right now…

… what it’s not different from is Justice’s video for D.A.N.C.E. You know I had to hate on something :) I still love the video, but I do find it a bit suspect that he had to bite on the people who won the European VMA for best video - thus resulting in Kanye crashing their acceptance speech to inform them of his superiority. AND what does Justice mention in the first 15 seconds of their song? Michael Jackson’s “P.Y.T.”! I’m just saying…

Kanye - “Good Life”

Justice - “D.A.N.C.E.”

**UPDATE**

According to Stereogum, Kanye used the same guy who did the Justice video BECAUSE he loved it so much. Wow. I mean, maybe that’s better than pretending like you’ve never seen it. But it does bug me that he’s kind of leap frogging off these developing acts to make himself look cooler. Anyone else have an opinion?
