Anyone remember Mark Ronson? He had that “Ooh Wee” song? It was in Hitch? Awesome track. Well, he had a new CD released in the UK this past Tuesday. I had heard a song on Morning Becomes Eclectic by him that featured Amy Winehouse, so I went to his MySpace to see what the deal was. Turns out that most of the album is covers (and good ones at that - Coldplay, Britney Spears, Kaiser Chiefs) and features awesome people (Winehouse, Lily Allen, Phantom Planet, Kenna). The whole album is good. Definitely a soundtrack for your summer if you want a CD you can just pop in your car and leave running for a while. I was lucky enough to get my hand on a copy at Amoeba, but it was the only copy there at the time. I recommend calling ahead to put it on hold, or you can always order a copy from Amazon UK. I don’t think a US release date has been set yet, so you may have to wait a while if you don’t like those first 2 options. Aaannddd I’ll give you a little taste with some mp3’s below…
