"Let’s Make Love and Listen to Death From Above" by CSS

What’s the point of hearing great music all weekend if I don’t get to share it with everyone! Stay tuned this week for my top 5 sets of Coachella 2007.

I gotta start with CSS. They were the band I was probably mist excited to see and they did not disappoint. I worried that my brother and boyfriend would think they were too quirky, but they loved them as well. My brother even said that CSS blew Lily Allen’s performance out of the water (to be fair to Lily, she did forget the words to 4 or 5 songs, so it wasn’t exactly her shining moment).

This is a group from Brazil that is 5 girls strong with one guy thrown in for good measure. The star is definitely Lovefoxxx, the lead singer. She danced around in a leotard for the whole show. The crowd was jumping up and down, clapping, dancing, and singing the entire time. Not bad for a band most people haven’t heard of yet.

I took a video of “Alala” but the sound is messed up b/c I was close and it was loud. I’ll try to post it later, but for now here are some videos posted on Youtube of the performance:

“Let’s Make Love And Listen To Death From Above” - This is the single that’s getting some radio play, was the set closer, and was the best song of the set:

And I love this video of the song b/c you can kind of see how much fun the crowd was having:

This one’s pretty good too (can you tell I’m obsessed?):

“Music Is My Hot Hot Sex” - The song that originally made me fall in love with this band (and that Lovefoxxx said Aaliyah would sing with them if she was alive… their r&b song). Also, this is the only video where you can see how Lovefoxxx has glasses drawn on her face. Yes, drawn on. So cool. I may have to be her for Halloween next year (sorry Lily), but I don’t know if I can rock the spandex bodysuit:

“Alala” - give me three wishes… (sadly, this video is better than the one I took):

Did anyone catch the live broadcast of this show in the AT&T blue room? They were replaying it in a tent and I saw a little… it looked awesome. I’m waiting for the archives to be posted.

If you’re bummed you missed this band or saw them and loved them as much as me, they’re playing the Fonda on June 10th. Be there or be square.
