I ran to the Promenade over the weekend and grabbed a coffee at the Hear Music Starbucks. I initially knocked these glorified versions of the coffee chain - they have computers and techs all over that allow you to compile and burn a CD with tracks of your choosing. Most everyone has a CD burner on their computer nowadays, how could this be successful? But when you look at how much the Now compilations sell (they pretty much debut at #1 every time they’re released - with the exception of the most recent one which I’m guessing will bow to Jay-Z - and go on to become platinum a short time after) this is pretty much the same concept except you get to pick the tracks. Anything that helps stop pirated music, I’m a fan of. Anyway, I like to peruse the walls in this place… it’s like a record store with it’s mini CD reviews and highlighted albums (I rarely get a taste of that with the iTunes world we live in). This time while browsing, I saw the new Beatles LOVE album. It’s not available on iTunes - none of the Beatles albums are (though that may be changing soon). So I picked it up and I’m really liking it. If you haven’t heard about it, it’s from the Vegas Cirque du Soleil show of the same title which uses all Beatles music. This is my favorite track so far… Worth the extra trip to the store ![]()
