"The New Underground" by Guster

Listen to this in your car loud and rock out. A fun little song and lots of energy for being under 3 minutes long (and the bridge totally gives me Devo vibes for some reason). Is it just me or do you guys think Guster has grown up a little bit on this album? I feel like they tried to go more commercial on their last album and it just sounded so forced. You could practically hear the label telling them what to sound like. Not a bad record, but something about it was just a little off. This album seems like the band outgrew the parts of their quirkiness that weren’t working and took on a more mature sound that still stays true to the uniqueness that is Guster. I could just be talking out of my ass, but that’s how it seems to me :) I’d like to hear everyone else’s thoughts on the matter!

Some P.S.’s for today’s new releases:
p.s. I’ll have a Keane review tomorrow… my brother let me “borrow” his copy.
p.p.s. I’m thinking of getting the ACL album. Anyone who has it… full album or just a few tracks?
p.p.p.s. What happened to I’m like a bird, I wanna fly away Ms. Furtado? She doesn’t even sing on her single. She got Timbaland and she could do whatever she wanted and still have the #1 single in the nation…
p.p.p.p.s. The Paris Hilton song (even more so now than when I first heard it) makes me want to pull a Houston and poke my own eye out. (What? Pirate rappers are the next big thing! Didn’t you know?)
p.p.p.p.p.s. My obsession with Guster’s “Satellite” continues to grow… I may have played it at least 10 times today… And I’m still singing it in my head…
