I’ve been trying to get this CD in here for a while now, but always had things that bumped it back. Well now I have time for it and that’s a very good thing because I’m in love with this record. The album is called Subtitulo and was released about a month ago. I want to say this is his third or fourth album, but I’m not completely sure. I never got into the old ones… always passed them up for one reason or another. But this one has grabbed me pretty tight.
“Quiet Town” is one of my favorites, but I can’t really pick just one. It’s the single so you should probably start off with it, but make sure you listen to the rest as well. “His Majesty Rides” gets stuck in my head and is a little bit poppy/bossa nova perhaps? “El Otro Lado” is a soundtrack song to me. And I don’t mean that it should be on a movie soundtrack. But that it’s a song where you can be driving along looking out the window and the world slows down - you become very aware of your surroundings and place in the world and start reflecting on your life. This is a good song to do that to. Definitely has a Nick Drake feel to it. “It Looks Like Love” is a very happy, feel-good track. “Summertime” probably fits the mood of the entire CD best. I heard an interview with Josh and he said he made this CD to put on while you’re having drinks with friends in some warm summer weather. This song best exemplifies that, hence the title.
Ok, I just realized this post is kind of sucking… I know it’s not very focused, so let me explain. This CD is one of my favorites that I’ve bought over the past 2 months - and that’s saying a lot; I spent double my music budget for this month… ouch. Point being… I love pretty much every song on this CD. It’s one of those that you can just put on and listen to start to finish and enjoy the whole thing. Perfect for the summer as well. So ignore my rambling and give it a listen.
p.s. Has anyone listened to the Richard Swift album? Is it just me or does he sound like a low rent version of Rufus Wainwright… If you’ve heard it, please comment b/c I know he’s pretty obscure… I’ve heard he’s got a following and is moving on up so I buy his CD and I’m like wait, are you Rufus’ second cousin or something? Why all the hype?

Can we do that? Put this cd on and drink a bottle of wine and hang out and have it be summer??? Maybe one night on your front patio soon when it;s nice outside!!! I like the sound of it
