Sorry that this is a faux-Sunday post. I was having some computer issues, so I’m writing a post this morning for Sunday and I’ll write Monday’s tonight!
This is a track from The Lillywhite Sessions that didn’t make it on to Busted Stuff. And I’m pretty much just posting this b/c I’m excited about a re-mastered copy of Lillywhite that I just got my hands on! For those of you who don’t follow DMB, this was a group of recordings that the band did with producer Steve Lillywhite. They then re-recorded most of them and added a few new tracks to make Busted Stuff. A lot of hardcore Dave fans were pissed about this. I know I was shocked (sometimes good, sometimes bad) by how different the new recordings sounded. A lot more commercial and sometimes a little over-produced. There are a few that I don’t care for on Busted Stuff but love the Lillywhite versions… like “Captain” and “Digging a Ditch.” Then there are the songs that didn’t even make the cut… “Sweet Up and Down” is another great one that was scrapped. And I know that my brother was pretty upset that “Kit Kat Jam” was turned into and instrumental.
If you want to try to download the version of the album that I’m talking about, it can be found in the Weekly Davespeak forums. You may have to search a little bit to find a copy that will work… And just as a heads up, that first link is only to download “Raven.” You have to dig a little deeper for the whole album.
